5 Genius Ways to Wear Clip-in Hair Extensions

As one of the most convenient ways to style your hair, or to achieve long, lush, and beautiful hair, clip-in extensions are more fun to wear if you have familiarized yourself with the various ways on how to wear it on a daily (or whenever you want to wear it) basis.

Considering that you have already bought your clip-in hair extensions, consulted with your hairstylist, and have already gotten your extensions styled according to your natural hair’s shape and length, we have listed out five genius ways to wear your clip-in hair extensions (with credits to The Effortless Chic).

1. Figure out where you want to place your clip-in hair extensions

Take note of the area on which you will be attaching your clip-in hair extensions. Keep in mind to match the length and width of your clip-in extensions to the length and width of your natural hair.

This step should not be taken for granted. This is because not having your natural hair and clip-in extensions at unequal width and length to each other may mess up the whole hairstyle that you are going for. Uneven hair and extensions are easily noticeable, and this is something that may displease you.

The good thing about clip-in extensions, however, is that you can easily unclip them and clip again until you reach the level in your hair that you are initially looking for.

2. Apply some texturizing spray.

If possible, get your own texturizing spray. It will help a lot in maintaining the texture of your clip-in extensions, and it will make your clip-ins more secure. This will also help avoid accidental slipping. Note that clip-in hair extensions have a rare chance of accidentally slipping, but as always, it is always better to be on the safe side than be sorry in the end.

All you have to do is apply your texturizing spray to the root of your clip-in hair extensions, and you are good to go!

3. Tease your hair.

Tease your hair (preferably with a fine-tooth comb) for you to create additional texture, before putting in your clip-in extensions.

Teasing will for sure help to thicken your normal hair, upon which you can clip your hair extensions in to. Having thick and teased hair is a big help for your clip-in extensions because it can also allow some kind of cover-up, so the clips will not accidentally show up.

4. Put the clip-in extensions in place.

After all the process of preparing your clips, your hair, and where you will be placing your clips, it is now time to place your clip-in extensions to your hair. It is advisable that you place the clips just right at the scalp’s base--where your clip-in hair extensions are more secure and less visible to the eye.

You may also hide some natural hair if it is uneven with your clip-in extensions. This is to create an illusion that all of your hair is real, with its natural-looking style.

Bottom line is, your clip-in hair extensions can look all-natural when placed properly and strategically.

5. Use as many or as few clip-in hair extensions as desired.

Depending on your preferences, you may use as many as you like (or as few, if you prefer) to achieve the final look that you are going for. You may even try playing with different colours or shades to achieve an ombre-like illusion in your hair.

But, if you need just a small amount, that is okay too. You just have to strategically place a section of your clip-in hair extension so that it can blend perfectly to your natural hair.

With clip-in hair extensions, you can go for a long-haired high ponytail, or a long mermaid braid, or just plain old lush and gorgeous hair. You can curl it, straighten it, or even have it coloured. The hairstyles you can go for are endless, especially when you have already mastered the ways in wearing clip-in hair extensions.

Once you get the gist of it, it will be easy for you to clip and unclip in an instant, and having your dream styled hair is just literally a clip away from happening.
